General field service apps are built around a house and a work order. A car key business is built around a vehicle and a part. Nyrano is the second kind.
What should automotive locksmith software do?
Automotive locksmith software should keep a record for every vehicle you touch (make, model, year, VIN, key blank, transponder chip, remote frequency, bitting), count key blanks and chips as real stock that drops when a job uses them, and tie the quote, the parts, the payment and the invoice to the same job. General field service software does scheduling and invoicing well, but it has no place for a chip type or a key blank, so that data ends up in a notes box where nobody can search it.
Why general field service apps fall short for car key work
Tools such as Jobber, Housecall Pro and Workiz are good products. They are made for trades that visit a property: plumbing, heating, cleaning, electrical work. Their customer record is a person with an address. Their stock list, where they have one, is a price book of services and materials.
A car key business does not work that way:
- The record that matters is the car. The same customer comes back with a second car, or the same car comes back with a new owner. What you need to find in ten seconds is what that car takes.
- The margin lives in the parts. A smart key can cost you more than the labor you charge. If stock and job costs are not connected, you do not know which jobs make money.
- The van is the warehouse. Running out of one common chip means a lost job or a drive back to the shop. Stock has to be visible on a phone, with a warning before it runs out.
- The customer did not choose you. They called whoever answered. Whether they call you again depends on what happens in the days after the job.
Nyrano is built on those four facts.
A car key job in Nyrano, start to finish
- The call. A customer has lost the only key to a 2016 Ford Focus. You open a new job on your phone, add the customer and the car, and choose to send a price first.
- The quote. You add the lines: key blank, transponder chip, cutting, programming, call-out. The customer gets a link, sees the total with tax, and taps approve. The job moves to accepted and you get a notification.
- The schedule. You set the time. With a team, you assign the job to a technician, who sees it in the mobile app.
- On the way. The technician taps "head out". The dispatcher sees the van on the map and the customer can follow a live arrival time from a link.
- The work. The parts you add to the job come out of stock. The key blank, chip and bitting are saved on the car record, so the spare key next year is a two-minute quote.
- The payment. You record cash, card terminal or bank transfer, in full or in part. The sale goes to your invoicing platform as a draft invoice, and the finished PDF is stored with the job.
- The day after. The customer gets a WhatsApp message from your business number asking if the key works. If they are happy, they get your Google review link. If not, you get an alert and a chance to fix it.

Inventory built for key blanks and chips
Each blank, chip, remote, shell and battery is a stock item with a quantity, a cost price, a selling price and a reorder threshold. A job takes parts out of stock. A supplier order puts them back and records what you paid that time. The low-stock list shows what is under its threshold, and the mobile app lets you correct a count from the van when you find a miscounted drawer.
This matters more for car keys than for most trades. A shop that does five car key jobs a day touches hundreds of small, expensive, easy-to-lose parts a month. A count that is right on Friday is the difference between buying what you need and buying what you think you need.
Does Nyrano look up key codes or decode a VIN?
No. Nyrano is not a key code database and it does not turn a VIN into a key code or a chip type. Keep using your code service and your programmer's vehicle coverage for that. What Nyrano does is remember the answer: once you have worked on a car, its blank, chip, frequency and bitting stay on the record, tied to the customer and the job history.
Does it work for a one-person mobile locksmith?
Yes. A solo operator can turn the team features off, which hides dispatch, assignment and technician tracking. What is left is the core: jobs, quotes, customers and their cars, stock, payments, reports and follow-ups. The Android app covers the roadside half of the day, and the web app is there for the evening half: supplier orders, reports, settings. There is no iPhone app yet.
Which countries and languages does it support?
Nyrano is built in the European Union and the app is available in English, Romanian and German. Currency and tax rate are settings, and prices can be shown with tax included or added. The first invoicing integration is SmartBill, which covers e-Factura for shops in Romania. The WhatsApp follow-up is most useful where customers already use WhatsApp every day, which is most of Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and large parts of Asia and Africa.
